This whole concept of "backfire" is new to me, but it finally puts a word to how I have been feeling as a Christian man in this day and age. I do believe the Bible teaches that practicing homosexuality is wrong, but I also believe that we are all – each and every one of us – created in God's image. That means we must treat each other with dignity, compassion, and respect. Bringing people to Christ isn't about hammering them with biblical facts, it is about building relationships and letting them know you really care about them. You let God take care of the rest.

You two built a relationship and really got to know each other. This is exactly how it should be. If everyone followed this example, there would be fewer screaming crowds and a lot more loving/meaningful conversations.

I thank God for both of you.
