In the midst of my “transcending advocacy” series, the advocacy of many others continues. Living in America’s first gay marriage state, the “battle” here ended long ago and life has gone on for people on both sides of this issue. While I understand the tension that many evangelicals across America feel about this ruling today, I believe our deeper calling remains: to live out the Kingdom of God in our culture. This is not to minimize those who have worked hard to protect marriage; it is more to say that “we must decrease” so that “He can increase.” We still have a culture in which we are called to extend Christ. Earlier this year, I wrote on having a redemptive view of ministry regardless of our nation’s laws (here).
