Bullied Out of the School System
Jacob Rogers took his life after suffering several years of anti-gay bullying at his high school. The bullying became so bad that he had to drop out of school during his senior year. One friend says he told her: “I don’t want to go back. Everyone is so mean. They
call me a faggot…gay…queer.”
There are conflicting reports of school officials claiming they intervened and followed up with Jacob, while other friends say that little was done to stop the bullying. School officials concede that a turnover of staff may have left Jacob vulnerable under the protection of individuals who did not realize the full extent of the bullying.
One of Jacob’s friends asks: “How many kids have to die before Cheatham does something?”
