This Thursday and Friday, Lead Them Home presented Posture Shift Intensives Course in Oakland, California, in partnership with Converge, a movement of churches working together to start and strengthen churches together worldwide. We would like to thank Converge PacWest for hosting the event and inviting many local leaders. Over 120 California leaders attended this event. Other local leaders were trained in a private seminar the day prior.
Some attending pastors are also parents of LGBT+ children. These “pastor-parents” not only have a unique challenge in navigating ministry, but also in caring well for their families. Ministry leaders who are parents of LGBT+ children often feel alone, but they are not alone. We meet many pastor-parents across the nation. For this reason, our upcoming Guiding Families Second Edition resource contains special encouragement and help for pastor-parents. Pre-order today.
“I am blown away at the value and importance of what I gained here today. I would love to come back and bring more people.”
– Oakland Leader
One parent and her son attended the event together. The son has experienced same-sex attraction his whole life, and he is currently pursuing a life of celibacy and attending school to become a pastor. This mother and son graciously offered to share their story during this event. One common thread in their story is that prayer has been a crucial aspect of experiencing support, victory, and help from God and one another.
We are currently processing their interview with Lead Them Home, which will be featured in Guiding Families Second Edition.
“If we want the church to continue to bring the gospel to this generation, this is a vital conversation that every church leader needs to be a part of.”
Posture Shift Intensives course is always a special event. Leaders have two full days to get to know one another, share ministry challenges, apply knowledge to case study challenges in their table groups, and walk away with hope, personal connections, and tangible tools to help implement Posture Shift principles into every area of their ministry context. Often, locals who are already living out Posture Shift will have the opportunity to share about what a posture shift has looked liked for them so far in the unique cultural context of their own city.
We believe strongly in the power of local leaders to take Posture Shift principles, translate them into their own voice, and bring the presence, reconciliation, and gospel of Christ to LGBT+ people made in His image.
“Go to Posture Shift! There is no other resource like this that combines biblical faithfulness and radical love.”
Do you want to catalyze a Posture Shift toward LGBT+ people in your city? Invite Lead Them Home to host a Posture Shift 2-day course or half-day seminar at your site. Download our informational brochure and pass it along to your pastor or ministry leader.
